Fair Housing

The Federal Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, handicap or familial status. This discrimination may take the form of but is not limited to: 

  • Refusal to negotiate for housing
  • Make housing unavailable
  • Deny a dwelling or set different terms
  • Conditions or privileges for sale or rental of a dwelling

Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice

The City of Midland has prepared an Analysis of Impediments (AI) to Fair Housing Choice that was approved by the Midland City Council on October 12, 2010. The City's Community Development Office has also established a local fair housing partnership. Fair housing education and promotion are objectives of the partnership.
